Bio
Yemane Asmelash Gebremariam is a PhD student at the Department of Agricultural Economics at Ghent University. He was born in Ethiopia and obtained a BSc in Agricultural Extension and a MSc in Rural Development and Agricultural Extension, both from Haramaya University. He has been working as a lecturer in Bahir Dar University (BDU) at the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Rural Development and Agricultural Extension.
Research
Yemane’s research focuses on understanding agricultural extension in North West Amhara in Ethiopia. His research has four specific objectives: analyzing the dynamics and experience of a transition of Ethiopian agricultural extension system from Transfer of Technology (ToT) to Agricultural Innovation System (AIS); studing farmers’ involvement and interaction in the extension system; understanding farmers’ perception on the effectiveness of extension methods ; and investigating Agricultural Knowledge and Innovations System (AKIS). The research is undertaken through the support of the BDU-IUC project funded by VLIR.
