Bio

Alice is a doctoral researcher at the Department of Agricultural Economics at Ghent University. She also holds an International Master of Science in Rural Development, jointly awarded by Ghent University, University of Pisa and University of Pretoria, and a Bachelor degree in Agriculture from Gulu University, Uganda. Her professional work experience spans over several disciplines in the agricultural and environment domains within both the private and public sectors in Uganda. She has been engaged in projects involving climate change mitigation and adaptation, agricultural land restoration and sustainability, rural development, water for agricultural production, enhancing farmers’ livelihoods and more recently, socioeconomic research on innovations and digitalization within the agrifood value chain.

Research

Alice’s PhD research focuses on the market potential of genome edited foods/crops in Uganda. Her studies seek to explore the genome editing technology from a socioeconomic perspective of different value chain actors in Uganda.
