Clara Sciffer joined the Department of Agricultural Economics in October 2023 for her joint PhD, involving Ghent University and the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (ILVO).
She holds a Master of Science in Bio-engineering with a specialty in Agriculture from Ghent University.
Clara’s research focuses on support mechanisms for the uptake of integrated pest management and low risk pesticide use. She will study the role of farmers’ and other actors’ behaviour and identify barriers and opportunities for IPM implementation and low pesticide input technologies in different socio-economic environments. As a case, she will focus on potato and strawberry production in Flanders.
