Ishika Gupta, from India, joined the Department of Agricultural Economics as a PhD student in 2016. She is based in Delhi, India and has been working at the International Rice Research Institute in the Impact Evaluation, Policy & Foresight Unit as an Assistant Scientist (Agricultural Economics) since 2015. Her current research evaluates the rice seed system and rice varietal adoption in India. Her research focuses on identifying informal seed distribution channels in resource poor regions of Eastern India, estimating varietal adoption and identifying factors affecting them, through household surveys and DNA fingerprinting of seed samples collected from rice farmers.
