Bio

Growing up in a family-farm environment in West-Flanders, Jeroen Buysse went on to study his bachelor and master at the faculty of bioscience engineering. After obtaining his master degree in 2001, he continued his track in academia by starting a PhD at the same faculty. His PhD thesis, defended in 2006, 'mathematical tools for agricultural policy analysis' was awarded with the best PhD award in 2009.

In 2011, Jeroen Buysse started as Tenure Track responsible for the research on agricultural and environmental policy analysis. He is teaching in courses on economic research methods, decisions support systems in environmental sciences, agricultural policies and agricultural economics.

Research

His research team MODERNA is active in Modelling and Optimisation of Decisions in Environment, Resources, Nature and Agriculture. There is a specific focus on modelling with the integration of economic and biophysical relations and on the nitrogen cycle. The research team regularly cooperates in research projects with regional, national and supranational institutions.
