Bio

Marcia Dutra de Barcellos joined the Department of Agricultural Economics - Division of Agri-food Marketing and Chain Management at Ghent University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from January 2022, for a 2-year position. She is Associate Professor (tenured) at the Postgraduate Programme in Management at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil. She coordinates and collaborates in different projects financed by Brazilian and International organizations. Besides her academic experience in teaching, supervising students and coordinating courses at different levels (in Brazil, Denmark, France, Spain, Argentina, Germany, for example), she holds managerial and knowledge dissemination skills (via consultancy projects, lectures, seminars and participation in executive boards).

Research

Her interest research areas are marketing, innovation and sustainable supply chains in the agri-food sector. Most recent research projects are related to circular economy and alternative proteins, from consumers to corporate perspectives. She has published in many high impact, peer reviewed journals such as Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Appetite, Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, amongst others.

Education

With a hybrid academic background, Marcia has a Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Medicine and her Master and PhD degrees in Agribusiness were granted by the interdisciplinary research center CEPAN at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, one of the top-ranking universities in Brazil/Latin America. Part of her doctorate studies were accomplished at the Marketing and Consumer Behavior Group (Wageningen University and Research Center, the Netherlands) and at the School of Rural Sciences and Agriculture (University of New England, Australia). She held positions as Postdoctoral Researcher and Visiting Professor at the MAPP Centre - Research on Value Creation in the Food Sector for Consumers, Industry and Society, from Aarhus University in Denmark.
