Bio

Ning Jiang is a PhD student in the Agro-food marketing and consumer behavior at Department of agricultural economics, Ghent University. Here she completed her Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics with a focus on sustainable food choices. For her Master’s thesis, she conducted consumer preference analyses and interpreted segmentations through the lens of behavioral economics. This experience established the seeds of her future research exploring consumer behavior and decision-making processes within sustainable food systems.

Research

Her research focuses on consumer behaviour in the context of sustainable consumption. She is enthusiastic about marketing instruments and policy interventions for fostering sustainable food choices, e.g. consumer communication, product labelling, and other elements of the behavioural insight tools in various food service and retail environments. She favors experimental research designs, particularly those involving novel consumer research methods and real-life settings.
As part of her doctoral research, she is dedicated to the development of sustainable agricultural systems through the application of behavioral economics and systemic approaches, with a particular focus on experimental research designs to promote individual behavior change.
