Bio

Tina Bui (Bùi Thiên Nga) has been a full-time PhD student at Department of Agricultural Economics since November 2025. She holds a Master of Science in Travel and Tourism Management. Prior to commencing her doctoral studies, she taught Tourism marketing and Research methods at Hue University, Viet Nam. Her research interests include, sustainable development, nature-based tourism, and culinary tourism, with a particular focus on remote and rural areas in Vietnam.

Research

Her doctoral research explores the role of ecotourism in shaping local food systems in Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, Vietnam. By taking a creative approach to tourism product development, this study applies the concept of food democracy to explore how practices of food democracy within an ecotourism context can contribute to a more sustainable transformation of the local food system. The research aims to understand how ecotourism can contribute to food democracy, strengthen local livelihoods, and support more sustainable and resilient transformations of local food systems, while addressing existing power relations and governance challenges.
