Zorel Gomez Vargas is a Ph.D. candidate from Bolivia focused on food security and coping strategies in indigenous communities from Chiquitania. She is a full-time professor at Universidad Catolica Boliviana San Pablo and a devoted mother. With a background in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Science in Quality and Productivity Systems, Zorel brings a particular perspective to her research, dedicated to exploring alternative ways to design and improve strategies for food systems transitions that promote food security of the most vulnerable rural households in Bolivia.
