Bio

Hélène Van der Stricht obtained a MSc degree in Bioscience Engineering, major in Food Science and Nutrition from Ghent University. The subject of her research was consumers’ reactions towards the nutrition label Nutri-Score and the smartphone app Yuka. She started her PhD at the Department of Agricultural Economics in 2020 and is currently assessing consumers’ perceptions towards microalgae-protein enriched food products.

Research

Hélène currently works within the EU project ProFuture aiming to scale up microalgae production and preparing the market uptake of microalgae proteins as ingredients for innovative and sustainable food and feed products in the EU. More specific, she is working on consumer perception and acceptance of microalgae-protein enriched food products.
