Agro-food marketing and consumer behavior

About us

The Agro-food Marketing and Consumer Behaviour research group brings together interdisciplinary expertise across economics, agro-food marketing, behavioural science, food science and technology, market research, public health nutrition, consumer acceptance, risk perception and communication, health and environmental sustainability. Our team has demonstrated this expertise through recent high-quality research on topics such as alternative proteins, food loss and waste, food safety, nutrition and sustainability labelling, product development and innovation, as well as economic decisions and willingness to pay among farmers and consumers. We also conduct assessments of dietary choices, behaviours and the eventual health and environmental outcomes. We specialize in modelling and optimizing decision-making within the fields of agricultural, behavioural, environmental and health economics through the use of tailored, integrated models.

Our group has strong experience in conducting cross-cultural agro-food and behavioural studies and has served as a key partner with research and managial roles in over 20 EU-funded projects (FP6, FP7, H2020 and Horizon Europe). These include SEAFOODplus, TRUEFOOD, QPORKCHAINS, PROSAFEBEEF, EATWELL, FOODRISC, ACROPOLIS, SOLID, CLYMBOL, ECsafeSEAFOOD, PHYTOME, FOODINTEGRITY, PROMISS, PATHWAYS, ProFuture, B-GOOD, SEAFOODTOMORROW, AlgFlavour, etc. The group maintains active collaborations with regional, national and international institutions and frequently contributes to high-level research initiatives and policy advisory processes.
