Bio

Dilshad Zahan Ethen is a PhD researcher at the Department of Agricultural Economics at Ghent University. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Agricultural Economics from Bangladesh Agricultural University in Bangladesh. She is now working as a faculty member at the Department of Agribusiness and Marketing in the same university in Bangladesh where she has completed her graduation and post-graduation. Her master’s thesis was on consumers' acceptance and willingness to pay for Golden rice in Bangladesh. Currently, she is studying how the key stakeholders of food chain evaluate Genetically modified(GM) crops.

Research

Dilshad’s PhD research is focused on the ex-ante and ex-post evaluation of Genetically Modified(GM) Crops in Bangladesh. She is working towards designing a framework to measure the market potential of a new crop technology embracing the two key stakeholders - producer and consumers from a developing country perspective. More specifically, she is studying consumers' expectations as well as farmers' adoption decisions towards GM crops to contribute to a better understanding of the main factors influencing key stakeholders' new crop technology evaluations. Her research is funded by Special Research Fund (BOF), Ghent University, Belgium.
